Falls, Trips & Slips

Falls, trips and slips are the most common causes of work place accidents. Examples include tripping over obstacles left in walk ways or around a workstation, tripping over loose cabling, pot holes or uneven walkways, slipping on spillages which have not been cleaned or objects that have fallen to the floor, slipping on floors that are still wet from being cleaned, or slipping simply because the floor surface itself is unsuitable.

Falling on stairs often happens because the stairs are inadequately lit, poorly maintained, lacking a hand rail or simply badly designed. Injury can also be caused by objects falling from a height, either from machinery, or objects dropped by employees or simply the fabric of the building itself falling apart. The list is endless.

The obligation to provide a safe working environment does not only apply to the building in which you work, but to the whole of the premises for which your employer is responsible, including the grounds in which the building is situated and car parks etc.

Health and Safety laws exist to protect you at work. If you are injured because your employer is negligent or does not follow the law, you are likely to have a claim. Even if your accident hasn’t caused you to take time off work, you can still claim compensation for the injury itself.

If you do have a claim we will obtain an interim payment from the responsible party’s insurers to assist with any financial hardship you have been caused and to pay for treatment privately at the earliest opportunity.
