Occupational Dermatitis
Dermatitis or ‘eczema’ as its more commonly called, can sometimes be related to direct exposure to chemical, biological or physical chemicals within the workplace. The symptoms can include dry, chapped, blistered and painful skin, across areas that have come into direct contact with irritant substances.
For a claim for occupational dermatitis to be successful a link must be shown between your exposure to a skin irritant and subsequent symptoms. Industries which have been shown to expose employees to dermatitis-causing agents include: the printing industry, fish production industry, cleaning industries and chemical and engineering manufacturers.
As with most occupational disease claims time is of the essence as claimants have a 3 year period in which to bring a personal injury claim, this time limit generally begins to run from the date of diagnosis, but this is not always the case.
